Your first Gnosis class in Ballston Spa is a free evening talk followed by a guided meditation practice, and it asks nothing of you beyond curiosity. No previous experience, no belief system, and no payment: just come and listen.
Most classes run 1.5 to 2 hours. The first part is a talk on one of the topics of the Gnostic curriculum, such as consciousness, esoteric psychology or the levels of being. The second part is a guided meditation practice, taught gradually so nothing strains the mind or body. The practices range from introductory relaxation and concentration techniques to keys you can apply in daily life.
Nothing. The Ballston Spa Gnostic Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), and classes are free for anyone who begins. Costs are covered by the facilitators and the advanced student groups; voluntary contributions are appreciated but never required, and the inability to pay will never keep anyone out of a class.
New students usually begin with the free three-night Introduction to Gnosis talk series, which covers what Gnosis is and how it works through direct, experiential knowledge. Anyone is welcome to attend one, several or all of the talks. For those who want to continue, a weekly course goes deeper into the topics introduced; because the material builds week on week, consistent attendance is expected from those who continue, and you are free to stop at any time with no further obligations.
The center has been active in the upstate New York area since the 1980s, and students come from Ballston Spa, Saratoga Springs and the wider region. Classes suit both complete beginners and people with years of reading behind them, because Gnosis is verified in your own experience rather than taken on trust; if you are wondering where to start, read What is Gnosis? first.
Dates for the next course are shared by email. Contact the center and Robert and Donna will let you know the dates, time and venue, with no follow-up if you decide not to continue.
